On January 15, 2013, the US-China Clean Tech Center (UCCTC) officially launched in Tianjin, China with a signing ceremony. Andrew Billard, Commercial Officer from the US Embassy in Beijhing, and Dr. Feng An announced that the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) ECO Center has partnered with UCCTC to be the exclusive representative for US companies in the Center. Most importantly, the US and Tianjin government representatives announced their administrative and financial support for UCCTC to help China find the best clean technology products from the US. In attendance were Tianjin government officials, the press and many prominent organizations in the clean technology field.
The following night, in Beijing, a banquet was held at the Westin Hotel and attended by dignitaries such as: dozens of counselors and ministers from embassies (Finland, Norway, UK, etc), the head of UNIDO, COO of World Bank, and Directors from the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC. Dr. An spoke about his vision to make the world a better place by uniting the world’s largest clean technology market (China) with the world’s most innovative technology producer(USA). “With the US and China working together in a place such as the UCCTC at TEDA ECO Center, we can make a difference!” Following the signing ceremony and the meeting of dignitaries, and with direct support from both US and Chinese governments, the US-China Clean Tech Center was officially underway commencing trade delegations for emerging sectors such as green data centers, groundwater and soil remediation, and industrial energy efficiency.
