The US-China Clean Tech Center and the U.S. Department of Commerce organized a Groundwater & Soil Remediation Trade Mission lasting seven action-packed days. Starting in the US Embassy on the first two days, around 20 US delegates from 10 US companies participated in a business roundtable and market briefing on the status of China’s environmental technology market for US firms. The trade mission then toured the China International Environmental Protection Exhibition and Conference (CIEPEC) before attending a reception at Minister Bill Zarit’s residence. Key Ministry of Environmental Protection officials were present at the reception.
In Beijing, the US-China Environmental Industries Forum (EIF) featured high-level US EPA, US DOC and MEP government officials discussing US-China groundwater and soil collaboration. In the afternoon following a morning plenary, each US company gave a presentation to the audience of over 100 invited guests. The US companies then met one-on-one with Chinese counterparts interested in doing business with the US.
After the EIF, the mission delegates travelled to Zhengzhou, Henan Province for further presentations and matchmaking meetings with Henan Environmental Protection officials and pre-selected potential Chinese customers/partners on Saturday, July 27. To end the mission, the delegates travelled to Tianjin on Monday, July 29 for another full day seminar and pre-arranged matchmaking. In Tianjin, demand for US companies was so high that each meeting had to be limited to only 15 minutes. A real speed-dating exercise! In total, US companies visited three cities and met hundreds of potential Chinese partners.
