From October 22nd to the 24th, the US-China Clean Truck and Bus Summit 2013 was successfully held in Shanghai. The second summit built on the collaboration and networking success of the inaugural summit which took place in Beijing in 2012. The event was organized by California-based CALSTART, Innovation Center for Energy and Transportation (iCET) / US-China Clean Tech Center (UCCTC), The China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI), as well as other Chinese partners. This year’s summit was able to expand the focus to explore topics in natural gas, electric, hybrid electric and clean diesel technologies in medium and heavy-duty vehicles and buses.

The 2013 summit brought together more than 120 representatives from the US, China, and other international clean commercial vehicle industries. Discussions centered around the differences and relative advantages of Chinese and US clean fuel and vehicle technologies, commercial models and government policies. In addition, in depth sessions were offered regarding challenges and opportunities for US-China collaboration, providing an excellent platform for cooperation between companies. The Executive Director of UCCTC, Dr.Feng An, hosted the “Clean Diesel Commercial Vehicle Technologies and Products” section at the summit.
